Hans R. Forster is an American teacher who has taught at universities in Jiangsu and Guangdong since 2006. His teaching focuses on areas of international business, oral / written English, foreign trade, and economic journals. In Jiangsu, he acted as Teaching Director in a training center where his primary focus was directing students on the I.E.L.T.S procedure. Hans has been part of the GDUFS family since 2010 and plays a critical role in helping numerous undergraduate students prepare for study abroad. He was commended as a Model International Teacher and given the award of “outstanding foreign / overseas teacher” during the 2011 – 2012 school year.
Before deciding to become a teacher, Hans was a project manager for a contract services company in the United States. While directing and managing contracts between schools and businesses, he became interested in education as a possible career change. His calling as a foreign teacher brought him to Changzhou, where he acquired an interest in the Chinese way of thinking. From his experience in Jiangsu, he found teaching in China to be challenging but also tremendously satisfying.
Hans’ teaching style is distinctly interactive and centers on the idea that you must think in English in order to effectively use English. He believes independent thought is necessary when learning a second language. His objective is for students to actively utilize English outside the class in normal everyday situations and to do so with self-confidence and determination.
